4th Annual Holiday Gift Boutique
Many Facets 4th Annual Holiday Gift Boutique
Raises More Than $5,000 To Support SEEC!
A
beautiful near 70 degrees November 15th day ushered in hundreds of
shoppers from all over the Washington D.C. region to the Many Facets
4th Annual Holiday Gift Boutique. The charming lodge setting of this
fundraising event for SEEC was The Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase.
Twenty-four vendors displayed their finest creations throughout the
Club for shoppers of all ages. This year’s raffle drew crowds vying for
the remarkable prizes, including the grand prize, an iPod Nano 5th
Generation 16G. The entire event helped raise community awareness for
empowering our friends and neighbors with developmental disabilities to
achieve their dreams.
Hundreds
attended the benefit, advised by advertisements in local magazines,
newspapers, community calendars, and personal invitations by advocates
for people with intellectual disabilities. They were shopping for their
family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and caretakers. Shoppers were
most inclined to purchase gourmet olive oils, tapenades, and vinegars
from vendor All Things Olive; fine artistic jewelry from Elena Crusoe;
beaded jewelry, pens, letter openers, and key rings from Debra Goren
Designs; woven baskets and gift from Africa from exhibitor Perfaekt
Gifts; and handcrafted furniture and gifts from Webster Woodworks.
However, there were wares for anyone’s taste, from children’s clothing
and accessories, placemats and trivets, clay pottery, and stationary;
to cards, paintings, and hand-painted holiday ornaments.
The
“SEEC café” was available to those who wanted to plot their shopping
map, take a brief rest from shopping, or chat with other shoppers while
enjoying a quick snack! SEEC’s booth featured Awareness bracelets,
handcrafted by Debra Goren of Debra Goren Designs and assembled by
student volunteers. The bracelets are still available on our website
(www.SEEConline.org) offer sterling silver puzzle pieces with Swarovski
crystals or a beaded bracelet with pearl angels with a choice of puzzle
piece or pink ribbon charm.

This fundraising event was made possible in part by AT&T.
