Mission & Vision

SEEC shares its work, expertise, and resources nationwide by leading webinars and presenting at conferences focused on improving access, funding, and training. We also collaborate with government agencies and providers in Maryland and Washington D.C. to enhance policies, increase funding, and expand statewide staff training and development opportunities.

Who Are We

SEEC is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization partnering with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they live, work and thrive as active contributing members of their community.

The four strategic pillars that guide the actions of the organization in our shared journey with our partners are:– Quality Supports– A Strong and Flexible Workforce– Reciprocal Partnerships– Financial Diversity

At SEEC, our values drive our practices based on the philosophy that everyone has the right to make decisions about their own life and future. Our goal is to be a strong, supportive partner that honors and respects people with developmental disabilities and helps them lead their own lives—at work, at home, in relationships, recreation, and in personal growth.

We support people to identify their hopes and dreams and access the resources they need to reach their goals. We work to provide high‑quality staff support that is guided by the people we serve and their families. We do this by learning and improving over time, and by staying current with best practices in disability supports, business operations and workforce strategies. SEEC thoughtfully encourages our staff in their personal learning journeys. As Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) partner with people supported and their families to remove barriers to living full lives in the community through jobs, friendships and service, their continued growth and development is key to success.

Our Mission

To partner with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can direct their lives with dignity, choice, authority, and responsibility.

Our Vision

We support a community where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities manage their own lives. They decide where to live, how to spend their time, who to connect with, and how to learn, contribute, and grow.

A Flexible Journey of Support

People’s goals, interests, and support needs change over time. SEEC offers a flexible range of services that can grow and shift with each person’s unique journey. People choose the types and levels of support that fit their lives, determine what staff will be on their journey with them, whether they are building new skills, exploring work, changing where they live, or strengthening community connections.
